BP Insulsheathing takes strength, energy and value to a much higher level!

Building Products of Canada is pleased to announce the much anticipated launch of its R-4 INSULSHEATHING composite panel, the latest addition to our structural panel line offered in Quebec.

R-4 Insulsheathing is one big panel with two huge advantages! It combines both strength and insulation. An innovative product that brings together two distinct technologies: the strength of wood fibre and the insulation of polystyrene!

Strength:
Very rigid structural strength. Diagonal deformation tests performed by CRIQ (Centre de Recherche Industrielle du Quebec) have demonstrated that our panel is 20% stronger than our black coated sheathing. It should be noted that our black coated sheathing meets the national building code standards in section 9.23.16.2.A. See Table below.

Insulation:
R-4’s superior insulation value gives us another way to meet various building code insulation standards. Depending on specific needs, R-4 will help you achieve the insulation values demanded in tenders.

At BP, we think in terms of Comfort Zone and focus our efforts on the health of occupants, energy efficiency, efficient optimization of resources available to our customers and protecting the environment. R-4 is constructed to conserve heat or air conditioning inside buildings while decreasing overall energy consumption. The long-term sustainability of wood fibre and polystyrene foam will increase the longevity of a house built with R-4. Lastly, better insulation will reduce required heat as well as reduce the emissions from combustible sources or secondary waste products produced by different forms of energy (nuclear / electricity / wood burning, etc.).

Easy installation:
At a thickness of 1⅛ inch and measuring 4’ x 9’, an R-4 panel weighs only 25 pounds. That makes it easy to handle and install. In addition, with transverse strength of 16-lbs CC, it is possible to walk on the product without worrying about breaking through! Because of R-4’s rigidity, it is not necessary to install diagonal reinforcements, which facilitates and optimizes the construction of wall cavities for contractors. Simply note that the product must be installed with the polystyrene side facing in, against the frame, and the wood fibre side facing the exterior — you get two components with just one installation!
